'Summer Nights' Drive-in Hit! |
CARS packed into a park-and-ride near Corfe Castle for a Purbeck film festival innovation - a sell-out summer-nights drive-in movie showing. The £10-a-car night was held at the Norden park-and-ride - which links up with the Swanage steam railway station there - and featured the classic movie musical depiction of the 1950s drive-in heyday in Grease, the 1978 film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Out of Festival film events |
There are more films than simply those which are shown during the two weeks of the Festival in October. Every year as it grows, more and more Village Halls are asking for performances at other times of the year. In 2007 for example we have shown a series of films in Studland's new and very glamorous Village Hall, six open air film performances are scheduled in the grounds of Corfe Castle in August in conjunction with the National Trust and Swanage Railway who are providing a special midnight train to Swanage after our showing of The Sound of Music. Other events this summer include a series of evenng films at Holton Lee at which visitors can see an exhibtion of students work. This year also we are expanding our season of childrens films in August. Three will be shown in Swanage and three in Wareham. We also hope to run a course for children on film and videao making in conjunction with the local schools. |
