Films too good to miss! - Niagara

‘A terrific movie that does not get the attention it deserves.’ So writes one critic, and there are three good reasons why it should not be missed.

Firstly, although the film is in the noir tradition, it is far from black and white – it’s great colour, and wonderful shots of the Niagara Falls, which forms not just the backdrop to the film, but is (or perhaps that should be ‘are’) as central as the story itself.

Sandford Royal British Legion

A Warm Welcome to All!

The Sandford Royal British Club is a membership club but will be open on the night of the film to non-members. In fact all are welcome to join the club where you can get the BEST and CHEAPEST pint in Sandford. The club has a quiet, friendly atmosphere and you can play darts, pool, cribbage and skittles.
The Club was built in 1946 and originally it was an old army Nissan hut. The new building as seen today was financed by members buying the bricks. The space is ideal for staging films with its large open hall and long bar for refreshments, In fact the club can be hired out for private parties and has an excellent kitchen and large car park.
The film BATTLE OF BRITAIN to be shown on Thursday 22nd October at 7.30, was selected by the committee with ex-service men in mind and there are a number of retired people in the area who will appreciate the cast of British Acting Greats, the superb music and spectacular flying sequences. But it is a film for anyone who enjoys fine acting and wants to gain a sense of history and tension as Britain faces its ‘Finest Hour'.

Festival Trailer

We are delighted to present our new Festival trailer by Keith Lawes. Keith is a local film maker who has already achieved considerable success with his first two animated shorts, Blind Date and Jab. Both of these were premiered at the PFF, and then went on to screen at other lesser festivals such as Edinburgh, London and Seattle. Blind Date has even been shown with live Wurlitzer accompaniment at venues in the US and Australia.

Enjoy the trailer (you might have to click on it twice to make it run on some computers). You can catch Keith’s other work on YouTube .
